Commercial Description:
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

Almost a soft drink of a beer, it drinks so fast and light. Cloudy brownish color, with a huge meringue head. Bottle opened with a dramatic pop and foamed heavily on the pour, it was difficult to actually fill a glass. Head never did fully dissipate. Aroma started slightly phenolic, with a touch of brown sugar in the background. Flavor was more fruity, with a vague tropical note along with the brown sugar. Finish was pretty dry - the beer from the beginning was never sweet. Light body, heavy carbonation and fizzy on the palate. Very quaffable owing to the light palate and low alcohol.

A clear copper color on the pour, the head planetary, creamy, long lasting, the lace in massive sheets that cling to the end of the glass. Nose is malt, caramel, over ripe fruit sweetness also noticed. Start is lightly sweet, malt, top is slight, the finish is adequately hopped, acerbic, long lasting dry aftertaste. Ranks #821 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Pours... amber with a decent white head. Smells of malt, fruit, and roasted nuts. Tastes of more of the same except a bigger sweet malt start and a tart metallic hop finish. It’s alright.

Pours with a HUGE off white head which is very long-lasting. Deep, slightly cloudy amber hue. Aroma of just ripe apricot, pear and peach with a perfumy orange blossom background. Initial taste is fruit juice sweet but quickly transforms into an upfront tart sourness which while not unpleasant, the contrast took a little getting used to. Some slight mineral-like dryness in the short finish. Enjoyable, but not that memorable.

This is an easy drinking ale, mostly because it's not really strong in any category. Nice appearance with an unassuming flavour. Not bad, but nowhere near the quality I've come to expect from Belgian brews.

A chalky, cocoa-laced, diacetyl, slightly smokey aroma with a bitter-style malt current. Nice label, very clear rosy brownish beer with a thinnish lacy head. Moderately sweet, fairly tart without fruitiness, latent bittering, some astringency. Lingering astringent bitterness in the finish. Medium to medium-light body. Session.

11.2 oz bottle from BevMo: Deep orange-amber color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is malty and bready. Flavor starts fruity followed by caramel and a lightly bitter slightly dry orange rind finish. Medium body is smooth with lively carbonation.
