Commercial Description:
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

This is a fine looking beer. Dark red with a lite tan head that just keeps on growing! The aroma is bitter and sweet. This beer bubbles like a bottle of champane. I didn't like the first taste I had of this stuff but the second and third were much better.

Bottle. I liked it and would drink it again. A little watery, highly carbonated, very drinkable with a light malt aftertaste. A simple beer, but enjoyable.

As unappealing as it may sound, this beer actually has the flavor of brandy in it-but it must be tasted fresh to appreciate how it works out. When new, it is a very refreshing ale with the oddness of flavors in there, but still a sustaining light ale flavor. Because of its alcohol content it really does not age well.. and I have had bottles of this which had not aged well, they tasted quite bad which probably accounts for this ale’s low rating. A very worthy ale if you’re able to get it fresh or at the source, though.

First pour was entirely a large-bubbled, mostly white head. Eventually revealed was a thick, auburn body with particles in suspension below a tight, retaining head. Weak aromas to start... milky malts, progressing to a nice, earthy caramel when warmer. Lemony-flavor to start, proceding to salty bitter, but held together with a hearty, malt fullness. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a spicy finish.

Drank in a tulip. Nice head, red / brown hazy poor. Aromas of an old basement, oranges, old oak... these aromas reminds me a little of the Duchesse de Brougogne but not as potent. Very floral hoppy aroma with added apples and raspberries. Flavors of wood a little sweet caramel and coriander. Bitter rubarb feel. Missing a little alcohol, creamy finish, well balanced. Very good overall.

Pours obviously an amber colour, with a small beige head. The aroma is of caramalts, dried apricot, lots of sweet malts and other fruits as well. It actually smells really nice, like how an actual amber ale would/should. Tastes, odd, not bad, but it doesn’t make me say wow. It tastes like everything I listed above, with a bit of yeast, and a slightly hoppy/ metallic finish. Sweet, malty aftertaste. Unlike any other Belgian beer I’ve ever come across before, it’s sort of a blend of a Wit with an amber ale. The result is pleasant enough. Decent beer. It gets some bonus point for the neat-looking illustration on the bottle label.

11.2 oz bottle Pours a crystal clear amber with an off white head. Good lacing but didn’t last long. Aroma is good. Malty with just enough sweetness to make it very tempting. I get a touch honey and pears. Taste is very smooth. A light body with great flavors. The alcohol is well hidden. This is a very tasty beer. Two thumbs up.
