| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2004 Huge thick creamy white head. Drank out of the chimay glass with the etch in the bottom and this created a volcano of head coming up through the rest of the one-fingered white head. Lots of lacing down the glass as it goes too. The aroma is nutty with a pinch of caramel and lightly tart qualities. The flavor is earthy and medium bodied. More like a belgian ale than a amber....oh wait, that's the the category says. WTF is up with the bottle then?! Is an amber ale in belgian really a belgian ale? So an american amber is an american ale?! I'm confused. Anyways, back to the rating. Finishes very yeasty (I poured in the bottle conditioning, tee hee) and sulfuric. Overall this was pretty average as far as belgians and might I say, a macro belgian? Not to say they aren't artisinal, it's just that they seem pretty common and widely distributed. ok, not macro, "mass marketed". I live if fucking Idaho, if I can get this it must be something pretty damn widely distributed. Steib (581), Queen Creek, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2004 Dark golden color with a big frothy wihite head. Sweet, tart semi-hoppy aroma. Initial taste was mellow, a lighter body. Has ginger notes and soda like carbonation. A nice dry, somewhat bitter aftertaste. Full flavor is the exception, still a nice drinkable beer. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is yeasty, lightly alcoholic, bready undertones. Light fruit. Flavour is similar, yeasty, light alcohol, bready fruit character, light oxidation? Light bitterness in the finish, mild fruity tang lingers. Average palate is fairly carbonated. Okay, bit old? 6/3/6/3/12 - 3.0 Bottle from the LCBO
November 2003. Poured from the bottle a slightly hazy amber. Interesting aroma is fruity with a hint of raisin and something familiar I can’t place, bit of spice as well. Flavour is mellow and subtle, malty with hints of sour apple. Nice mouthfeel. 7/3/7/3/14 - 3.4 puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2005 Buttery, yeasty, biting aroma. Smooth orange appearance with a subtle head. Flavor was buttery with a touch of hops but lacking in complexity and finish. Palate felt a touch watery. Not too bad... I’d put it higher than most other 50th percentiles I’ve had.
