shalloWMeans (151), Florence, Kentucky, USA May 15, 2008 Updated: Jul 2, 2008 Obtained a free 12oz. bottle of this from work. Ahh, the beauty of working at the Party Source. This is a little known brewery that we just got in and the distributors brought us some extras to sample. (Couldn’t have happened at a better time; I had just commented earlier that I was in the mood for a good Blonde.) It poured with a very large well sustained rocky, billowing head into my Duvel tulip. The color is very deep golden amber and rather dark for a typical "blonde" Nice bead with "tornado" effect similar to Duvel. Strong, sweet, candi sugar, cedar spices, orange, cinammon/ apple-struedel aromas and a thick molasses complexity. Very intense. There is slight bitterness on the palate, with the cinammon tingling the tongue. Plenty of liveliness, bitter curacao orange, some citrus acidity, slight saltiness, and a warming liquorish, alcoholic finish, which causes a lovely tingling sensation on the roof of the mouth and back of the tongue. Overall the finish is very long-lived, leaving a lovely, drying bitter but fruity citrus taste throughout the palate. This beer definitely delivered more than I expected, and I feel is just a little underrated.
espenra (149), Oslo, Norway Nov 19, 2008 33cl bottle shared with fellow beergeeks at Gunnfryd’s appartment. It poured a red-brownish colour with a very small head. The aroma smells of clove. It has a sweet flavour that tastes of honey, juniper, mint and other urbs. It has a short aftertaste.
carruthm (465), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 27, 2008 blonde, slightly cloudy yellowed color with a decent white head. slightly sour aroma with a crisp clean flavor that doesn’t offer too much in terms of variety. kassner (203), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 12, 2008 Had this beer at Magoos. Not much for a Belgan Light Golden Color, cloudy, not very high in alcohol, acidic and sour but clean. Pretty dissappointing CapFlu (3342), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Oct 2, 2008 (33cl Bottle) Purchased at Spinnakers Wine Merchants in James Bay, Victoria, for $3.80. Pours a lasting white, frothy head atop a cloudy amber body. Nose of strong orange peel and yeast. Sweet cantaloupe, mild spices and vanilla mingle. Lasting belgian hop finish makes this a pretty decent beer. BigBeer45 (501), Troy, Michigan, USA Aug 30, 2008 Bottle, pours a clear medium gold with some amber and faint yellow at the edges, initially has a big foamy variable bubbled white head that places clingy lacing here and there, has some effervescence, a little haze from the sediment. Emits a big sweet nose with lesser aromas of sweet dough and flowers, faint spices on the nose, flavors of bread, pale malts, mellon? and sugar sweetness, alcohol is really faint and did not even show up until the ale was about room temperature, there is pepper and faint spice on the palate towards the finish, a medium mouth feel or a little less with the good bit of carbonation on the palate which gives a spritzy fluffy feel on the tongue, enjoyable, I am a little surprised that this does not have a higher rating.
