berkshire_john (1035), Bracknell, Berkshire, England May 6, 2008 Cask at the Brunswick Arms. Black with a damson tint and a thin cream head; thin in the mouth, slightly vinous, but then developing a sustained dry mild bitterness with dried fruit flavours; sultanas and apricot. Mes_and_Sim (4176), London, Greater London, England Jul 15, 2007 A Sim rate (cask at Chelmsford BF): Great for a mild. Smells like wine or a very spicy dressing. Grapes, cherries. Bit of chocolate and caramel. Nice and tangy. Nice creamy aftertaste. imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England May 20, 2007 Cask conditioned at Stratford upon Avon Beer Fest ’07. Dark brown with little head. Darkly malted mild but without the fruitiness of a Midlands mild. Earthy dry flavours with a touch of greenness, lack of conditioning. It drops off quite quickly, its ok without reaching any heights. leaparsons (3878), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Mar 13, 2007 Cask, Derby Winter Fest 07. Very dark brown with a beige foam. Aromas are sweet and earthy with light roast malts. Some liquourice and oats. Flavours are light roast malts with some soapiness. Some lemon comes through with chocolate towards the finish. Malty and tasty. haddonsman (1189), Derby, Derbyshire, England Feb 21, 2007 Cask (handpump) Brunswick Inn. Avoids the dishwater trap of too many middling milds today, manages to mine a slim vein of subtle roasts and tangential bitterness. For a ’house mild’ it’s a good drop.
