Handicapped banana esters and citrusy wheat quirks are the prey of a dirty tap line it seems (or some other source of dirtiness), creating a muddled and metallic flavor profile not motivating me to drink much of this Hefeweizen.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam sinks into the cloudy dark yellow.
-The aroma is quite shy, which is quite strange for a Weizen; the yeast doesn’t seem to want to participate much.
-The soft prickling is below what the style calls for, and in this case makes the beer’s flaws very apparent.
-Yeast offers doughy flavors, but they are mostly confused by the nearly flaccid mouthfeel and problematic metals.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 4, 2006 Pours orangeish golden with a bit of haziness. Medium to small white head that completely dissapeared after a few sips. Aroma is wheat, bit of clove, citrus. Flavor is mostly citrus with a bit of clove flavor. Aroma and flavor don’t have any banana/ bubblegum notes. Finish is short, bit of bitterness from citric hops. Needs to be a lot bigger in the aroma and the flavor, with a bit better balance between clove and citrus.
