| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Bottle. Deep red, hazy copper colour under a thick yellowish head. Solid malty aroma with some roast. Roasted malts, some chocolate and molasses. Hints of aniseed and spices, the latter balancing the sweetness. A perfect dessert beer in my opinion. Nice craftmanship. BoBoChamp (1354), Gent, Belgium

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Updated: Jan 31, 2009Very dark amber beer with orange highlights under a good cream-coloured head. Dark, mainly sweet malts, chocolatecake, with a light spicy spike - liquorice and leaves? Taste reveals liquorice - and masses of it, even verging into salted drop territory. Non-bitter chicory, if that makes sense, very roasted. Needs to be drunk not too cold, warming gives it ample complexity, with chocolate returning. Creamy MF, pretty well-carbonated, well bodied, alcohol lurking. I did not like the liquoricesweets connotation, but the palate softened my judgement.
