Commercial Description:
This is a traditional Bavarian Schwarzbier style with a deep color and a smooth rich flavor. Specially roasted malts give the black color and mild roastiness to this beer while Munich, Caramel, and Honey malts add depth and character to the malt flavor. Moderately hopped with noble aroma varieties to achieve a perfect balance and a clean finish this beer is a perfect complement to smoked, grilled, and roasted foods, flavorful meats and cheeses or chocolate desserts.

Poured from tap at Barclays a clear thin black with a small tan head. Aroma is light roasted grain and coffee with the flavor being much the same, grain, coffee and some caramel. Palate is dry and crisp with heavy carbonation, seems a little light on the tongue but easy to drink. Overall enjoyable. I would drink it again but not often.

Picked this up at a beerfest in SF, seen it all over town but finally having one, by the way, the brewery people seemed really great. Poured a deep dark almost black, with a frothy tan head. Smell was big sweet malts. Taste was what you’d expect from this style of beer, malty, kind of metalic, but not off putting. This is one of the better schwarbiers i’ve had in the US, but i’ve really only had a few from Texas, but anyway this has more taste and is a good representation of the style, good stuff.

Pint can from Bhensonb. Thanks, man. This was the blackest black pour with a quickly dissipating head. Roasted grains dominate the lager yeast nose, but the bright lager yeast and hoppy finish make this a lighter beer than I would have anticipated. The deep roasty flavors finish dry enough that this beer finish cleanly - and that is a good thing. I guess that I don’t think that I dislike it as much as I might otherwise. (ambivalent rating)

On tap at Manny’s Tap Room. Dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Sweet caramel and molasses aroma and taste with some hints of roastiness and chocolate lingering in the back.

As far as Schwarzes go, this is one of the better ones. Aroma is smoky and roasty. Pours a cola-like black. Finishes dry and aromatic. A good dark lager.
