Aroma is light roasted grain and coffee with the flavor being much the same, grain, coffee and some caramel. Palate is dry and crisp with heavy carbonation, seems a little light on the tongue but easy to drink. Overall enjoyable. I would drink it again but not often.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Picked this up at a beerfest in SF, seen it all over town but finally having one, by the way, the brewery people seemed really great.
Poured a deep dark almost black, with a frothy tan head. Smell was big sweet malts. Taste was what you’d expect from this style of beer, malty, kind of metalic, but not off putting. This is one of the better schwarbiers i’ve had in the US, but i’ve really only had a few from Texas, but anyway this has more taste and is a good representation of the style, good stuff. allendodd (60), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

This was the blackest black pour with a quickly dissipating head. Roasted grains dominate the lager yeast nose, but the bright lager yeast and hoppy finish make this a lighter beer than I would have anticipated. The deep roasty flavors finish dry enough that this beer finish cleanly - and that is a good thing. I guess that I don’t think that I dislike it as much as I might otherwise.
