Irony roasted malts dominate the nose that takes its substance mostly from malt. Tin, dryish toasted caramel, short finish hinting at shy hop derived leafiness. A rather minimalist example, dry yet malty and ultimately feeling thin and not worth a whole lot of attention. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 8, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown body, with a small off white head. Mildly spicey nutmeg/nutty aroma. Sweet malt with nutty notes, flavour has just enough bitter hops to to make it interesting. Average palate. Pleasant but unexceptional. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Chestnut body beneath a small tan head. Notes of hazelnuts, maple syrup, Whoppers, and alcohol. Light bodied, thin. The flavor was rather washed out. Not a very good brew. Oakes (8092), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 7, 2005 Hazy dark brown colour. Straightforward malty/hazelnutty aroma. Strange body - both full and thin, like you’d find in a nitro beer, but this was a firkin. I guess both have low carbo. No worries though, I’ll be at the brewery next month. The flavour is mainly about carastany malts and a light nuttiness. Doesn’t appear anything wrong with the beer, but a standard brown ale is just so uninspiring for me. LaMichael (4999), Colorado, USA

Dark orange, which is a light color for the style. Maple and coriander nose, simple scent really. Good body, rich but still a bit thin. Roasted nuts (almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds), maple flavors, surprisingly good. More of a scotch/brown ale hybrid in my mind. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 29, 2005 Red brown body and quite thin in aroma and body. Some malts but not nutty at all. A bit disappointing.
