mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 4, 2007 Pours a slightly cloudy yellow with a creamy looking head and a faint corn aroma. Definitely some anglo hops in here, sweet and corny malt but not too cloying. A tad on the thin side but not too much so, low on carbonation, though. The hops redeem this otherwise unremarkable beer, but it’s still not quite enough. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Sep 11, 2005 Light amber colour. Lifeless appearance - no carbonation to speak of. Fairly light in flavour. Surprisingly bland, I found myself struggling to notice anything at all about this beer. mj (4971), Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2005 Draft at the brewery
Simple, sweet honey and oranges, sour wet dog finish, overall very bland and a little putrid with some mold or compost flavors. Smells like old, spoiled liquid malt extract. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 29, 2005 Pale amber colour with a thin white lace covering the top. Nice spicy hop nose, light caramel malt. Juicy citrusy hop nose, spicy and a bit woody. Light caramel malt. Flavour is very well-balanced. Sweet and malty up front with some woody hop flavour in the middle. Decent bitterness finishing it off. Much better than the ratings would have had me believe. Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Apr 28, 2005 Stuffy nose due to cold still. Think I can taste faintly of orange peel. Fairly thin mouthfeel. Not a great P.Ale. I enjoyed the IPA much more. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 29, 2005 Lighter for a plae ale and not the hops needed to pull it off. Swans needs to thicken up their beers as they are alright but just to thin in my opinion. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 16, 2005 (Draught) Non carbonated. Lasting thin, white, creamy head with an orange-amber body. Nose is slightly fruity of fuggles hops. This cask-conditioned beer has a creamy mixing of crystal malt. The description of an "imperial product" is truly misleading... JohnC (2227), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 11, 2004 On a small pub crawl while onshore for a few hrs from my cruise ship, I hit up Swan’s. As a general statement for all of their beers that i tried, the good news is that they were served at the right temperature. The bad news is that none of them was too good, IMHO.
This pale was flat, dry and forgettable.
