mgermani (597), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 25, 2008 Pours a reddish orange with a light head & some lacing with a sweet honey-like aroma. Good bitterness, but cheap lager-like malting with a bit of amber, and diacetyl. Good carbonation and a lightly creamy body aren’t enough to rescue this one. Drinkable but not my Buckerfields best. Crit (2239), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Apr 13, 2008 Cloudy red brown, lasting beige head. Sweet brown sugar nose. Light slightly dry malt taste, hints of fruit. Faint dirty line taste CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Nov 17, 2006 (Draught) $3.25 for a 10oz glass. Thin, foamy white dissipating head with a non-carbonated orange-brown body. Nose of toasted Irish malt. Flavour is roasty, doughy, mildly spiced. A nice oily texture with a tad floral finish. Good. Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 31, 2005 Dark amber colour. Light aroma is fairly one-dimensional, showing caramel almost exclusively. Medium body but light flavour, again largely of caramel with only a vague earthiness as a backdrop. There is sufficient richness to the flavour and body, enough to avoid the usual amber ale sensation of wateriness, but it’s too limited conceptually to achieve any status beyond ordinary.
