(i think). in general i reject most things containing the word "buckeye" but i put aside those feelings to crack open the 76. aroma is unassuming; although hoppy it’s not in-your-face. amber color, darker than it seems it should be from 100% pale malt but it’s appealing. definitely centennial hops (bigger darker two-hearted ale flavors) with a very "full and thorough" bitterness. never a puckering bitterness but rather the hops seem to permeate the liquid and show up everywhere. good stuff, should satisfy anyone’s hops craving. cbkschubert (2027), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2006 via trade with OhioDad - Pours an amber color with a slight haze. Has a thin film head with light, fine carbonation. Very light lacing. The toasted malt aroma is what sticks out here. There is a light bit of citrus hop aroma. Nice hop/ malt balanced flavor. A smooth almost chewy beer. Not your usual Double IPA. Very good. Thanks Scott. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2006 Bottle. 22oz. Pours an orangey golden color. Hop florality on the nose. A hop infused brew without the requisite malty backdrop to temper the hop onslaught. Don’t get the citrus/"sweet orange peel" flavors, but rather the bitter, somewhat metallic flavor. A middle of the road 2IPA. Thanks to Kramer 17801 for the bottle. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2006 Pours a slightly dark amber color with a thin tan head. Aroma is of citrus, pine, and plenty of hops. Along with that is some fruit and sweet malts. Flavor is big on the citrus and hops. Very nice bitter finish that lingers awhile. Pretty impressed with this double IPA. Definately worth buying another bottle. Philip (436), Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2006 I’ve always wanted to try this, not sure why, but maybe its because of the cool label. Lo and behold, I find this on a picnic table at the DL Day gathering. Thanks to whomever brought along with them. Much appreciated. Pours a golden hue with plenty of lemon and grass on the nose. Lead into a fairly sharp hop bite, but finishes with some malt overtones. I was a bit underwhelmed, frankly. Its good, solid, not something I’d go out of my way to seek out per say. Just a well made, hoppy IPA. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2006 22 oz bottle. Poured what seems to be a light brown with a pretty thin white head. Aroma of citrus and hoppiness. Tasted very bitter and hoppy to start but more malt came out as it warmed. I thought it was pretty good but maybe a little too bitter. pineypower (1109), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2006 I was under the impression that Ohio really does not have much value. Thanks to Jeff for this one. Pours out a nice copper color with a huge foamy frothy head. Nice hop aroma floral/grapefruit. Flavor is very bitter hoppy but pretty drinkable. Very nice beer from a state that I thought didn’t have much going for it. entertheiceman (242), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 24, 2006 Copper pour, instant citrus hop aroma. Buckeye really shines in bringing grapefruit flavors out of their IPA’s. This is no different with fresh ruby-red’s on the palate. It is, however, slightly astringent and tiring on the palate. Chewing on fresh and robust hops is what comes to mind when drinking this beer. Enough malt to suffice although not quite enough to balance.
