sliffy (1951), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2008 On tap @ Buckeye: Pours a clear amber with a white head. Aroma, caramel and toffee notes, some grassy/floral hops. Flavor, grassy caramel, some toffee, sweet malts, herbal notes. brentfeesh (898), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Jun 23, 2008 Enjoyed on tap at the Beer Engine. Nothing very exciting about this as an “Anniversary” brew. Pretty straight forward Alt. Everything was balanced (hops, grain, body) but it was all low in the flavor department and lacked any sort of stand out feature. Kind of boring and I did not have a second glass. shigadeyo (1362), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Jun 5, 2008 6/03/2008: Buckeye Anniversary Alt is quite mediocre and uninspiring. Nothing about this beer really piques my interest. The color was fine (maybe a bit pale), but the aroma and flavor were only vaguely reminiscent of an Alt-style beer and there was significate yeasty presence. Hops, malt, and any character in general were all quite muted. I would not have a second pint, nor would I recommend this beer. It did not meet my expectations for an Altbier and was completely underwhelming for an anniversary offering.
Draught (pint) at Buckeye Beer Engine in Lakewood, Ohio. Rating #1 for this beer...
