How: Tap at brewpub. Called Anniversary Alt on the brewpub menu, I’m assuming this is the same beer.
The look: Clear dark blonde body with almost no head
In long: Smooth doughy body with honey and floral leafy hops. Some toasted bread. Limited caramel presence and even less fruity notes presence. Strong leafy hops presence and nice flavourful “green” bitterness. Very clean, very drinkable, this is an acceptable session beer. However as an Altbier it is about as true to the style as circus clown in a grey three-piece-suit.

Pours a golden copper with a tight white head. Mild aromas of sweet maltiness. Agreeable flavors of bready malt, a touch of nuttiness, and some sweet caramel. Ample bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable. krautdog (15), Gimmelstümph, Germany
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Tried this on tap at The Buckeye beerengine and found it to be a very enjoyable alt. It poured a perfect copper color - the taste was right on, the ibu’s seemed right for the style and it had a good carbonation level, definitely a good rendition of a not too common ale style.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Pours a clear copper with a good head. The aroma has a whiff of caramel malt, but not a lot. There’s an almost grapey or apricot fruitiness in there as well. It’s a touch overcarbonated with detracts a little. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2004 Light copper w/ a lasting off white head. Clean toasty malt w/ a very light caramel, and just very, very light hints of roast. Otherwise pretty clean. Flavor is also very clean and well balanced w/ a light bitterness in the finish w/some hop flavor. Light caramel malt and clean of esters with a toasty malt flavor as it warms. Very smooth, lighter carbonation, but a little CO2 bite until it warms up. Lighter medium bodied. Very nice version of a German classic. Could probably be a little more on the bitter side, but it works for my malt loving palate. deprogram (112), Renton, Washington, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 13, 2003 (Draft) Suprisingly thinbodied, almost watery - unexpected given its deep mahogany hue. Noticeable oak aroma. Rather minimal head. Reasonably sweet and drinkable, but neither thick enough or strong enough to make me go back for more.
