Average frothy white head with good lacing. Initial flavor hoppy mild IPA similar to loose cannon. Finish of flowery hops and then bitter. Smells better then it taste. At $4.99 this was a relatively inexpensive bomber. I imagine that on tap it is about the same which makes it a nice alternative to macros like Bud or Miller. There really is not much flavor but at least it has enough character to keep you interested through the first pint. Overall this is a basically average beer.
Aroma / Appearance - The pure white head and amber carbonated body are the prototype for every decent pale ale on the planet. Cedar and a hint of citrus give this a hoppy aspect but overall it is dominated by something malty.
Flavor / Palate - For 6% this goes down very easily. Cedar and amarillo are the key components of an otherwise safe and dull palate. A good alternative to mass produced pale ales this is something that might be worth checking out if you have friends you need to convert. At $4.99 you can’t go wrong. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 30, 2009 golden with mild white head. moderate carbonation. straight citrusy nose. first noition is the overly bitterness of this brew, it dominates the palate and even detracts and diminishes the citrusy hop flavor of amarillo hops, which are rather boring and understated. absolutely no hop balance, which can be a good thing if the hops are interesting enough, however, in this case, that is far from the case. very poorly designed beer, so much about this recipe should be changed. truly bad shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 16, 2009 7/12/2009: I spoke with the Buckeye brewmaster during Ohio Brew week and he indicated that Bling Bling is his new pale ale offering available for only ~$3.37/bomber in Cuyahoga County (Ohio). His goal is to show that good beer can be produced and available to people at a good price. It is also a way to encourage people to drink local beer to support a local brewer. Admirable goals! How can I pass up trying a pint?! Here goes... Bling Bling has a hazed golden color with a mostly white head. The aroma showcases orange and grapefruit citrus, pineapple, and is moderately sweet. This beer has a medium-light body and a mild bitterness level. The flavor is a bit soft, but some leafy hops do stand out somewhat. Overall this is a decent pale ale, but just needs an little extra kick of malt as well as more hops in the flavor.
Pint (draught) at Broneys in Athens, Ohio during Ohio Brew Week 2009. Rating #13 for this beer.
dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2009 On tap at Broney’s for Brew Week in Athens. Light straw color and crystal clear. No head evident. Minimal aroma. A little sour, since it was a fresh keg for the festival, I think it may have been the wheat, or the honey listed on the tag.
