kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Nov 17, 2003 Keeps a great white head over a light gold body, brilliantly clear body. A little bit of green apple fruitiness with a faint banana ester and a nice clean low grainy malt aroma, no hop, and a very subtle hint of DMS as it warms. Flavor is slightly grainy malt with a hop back up in the finish and aftertaste; very well balanced and clean for the most part. A slight bit of fruitiness in the finish as well. Not what I'd expect from a cream ale, but pleasantly surprised. Not terribly complex, but what cream ale is. Carbonation is high and body is on the fuller side of light w/ a slightly dry m/f. "Very quaffable" as Garin would say. I say it's very good and thirst quenching, better than the standards IMHO, if only a bit overhopped for cream ale style. Drew (2377), Kent, Ohio, USA Jun 9, 2003 Had this at B&O Brewing in Youngstown - The waitress set it down and said "Cream Ale" - I later found out it was a guest tap from Buckeye. Aroma is citrus. Body is clear yellow - good head and lacing. At first, I was confused - flavor is citrus up front, very creamy and malty, and the finish is super crisp, filled with a peppery, spicey hop - except for the clear body, it almost seemed like a Wit or Hefe. Then she said "Cream Ale" - wow - Usually that reminds me of Genesee and I run screaming from the room. I could happily drink a couple of growlers of this while mowing my lawn.
