| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2005 Bottle, found for only $3.99 in Dayton, lucky me! Anyway, the beer has a nice reddish brown color with a initial large frothy head which fades into a msall covering and left good lacing on my glassware. The beer comes off with a big caramelized and toffee malt nose with additional prune and apple aroma. A bit of earthy ester and hazelnut as well. The taste starts with a caramel and sugary sweet forefront supported by a nice apple like twang. The finish displays some mocha, mild bitters, and a touch of nutty qualities. The feel is lively and yet a bit oily as well, makes this bier quite quaffable despite it size. Wow, worth the long wait. This is a great brew and a dug it completely. Sure it isn’t quite to style, but then maybe that is why I like it so. Get ya some. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2004 This bottled brew poured a frothy head medium sized brown colored mostly diminishing bubbles. The body was semi-opaque softly carbonated and dark ruby red brown in color. The aroma was malty with a mild hoppiness and brown beer note. Its mouth feel was thick and smooth with a mild finish. The flavor was very interesting with an initial malty raisin flavor that mellowed in the finish. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2004 This beer is a dark amber/cola color with a thin beige head. Light lacing. Smoky aroma with malt and caramel. Medium body, with a strange earthy mix of sweet malt, caramel, chocolate and tart fruit. The finish is rather sweet. Overall this is a decent brew but is not up to snuff with the great Doppelbocks. Drew (2409), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2003 Updated: Oct 10, 2003Tasted at our recent local Ratebeer gathering at Buckeye - on draft. This was extremely dark. I think it was served a little too cold - took a long while for the palate to thicken. Taste was incredibly smooth, sweet, chocolate malty-nes. They will be bottling this as a spring seasonal in May, 2003 - will try it and re-rate then. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA
