Mahogany colored, dark but clear. Light carbonation with a nice light foamy head. Sharply sweet but lightly sour aroma. Sweet malt, hints of sour fruit. Not bad, a bit of light hop bitterness at the finish. Round mouth feel. Overall, not too bad, and an enjoyable way to end my Christmas brew tasting for the year.

2004 vintage bomber, courtesy of kujo9 - thanks, Mike! Beautiful, unfiltered muddy rust color with a separated saliva spackle for the head and lovely dispersing, cascading lace. Aroma continues the momentum, with confectionary chocolate powder sifted and stirred with cinnamon and nutmeg. Honey graham crackers pursue the spice wafts, along with cloves, brown sugar, and chocolate covered bananas that have been frozen and now thaw on the kitchen island. Plums tossed with brown sugar butter crumble bridge the nose to the mouth. Earth laden cinnamon sticks and chalky, solidified chocolate powder add a sweet, humbled dimension. Spicing synapse of anise, pepper and mild black licorice evoke begotten memories of a dark Nicaraguan cigar wrapper. Brandied figs stuffed with Good & Plenties are an ever present stagehand. Heavy, solid weight on the palate, like a soaked sponge set in the mouth while fast asleep. Lord knows this is very well balanced with a year of age under its belt, and I’d like to see it in all life stages and evolutions. Walnut refuse, like chewing on the discarded shells, brings up the wagon and is moderately met with raisins glazed with marsala in the finish. Guess who’s picking up more Buckeye when he’s in Ohio over the New Year?

22oz bottle pours dark brown with a creamy tan head that stays well and laces down the glass. Aroma of spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, some yeast, raisin, and a touch of caramel.. Very complex... Flavors of bread, raisins, a bit of cinnamon and cloves and some other dark fruits. Very smooth and somewhat full in body. A nice dry finish. Very malty and quite tasty. This was much better than I expected it to be.. I really liked it..
