The first thing I noticed about this beer was the massive head that appeared in my glass. Well over 50% of my pour was head (closer to 75%). Big bubbles in the espresso colored head. Very dark beer (dark chocolate to black). The aroma was light with some crisp hop presence and burnt malt. Chocolate with molasses, licorice, ash and charcoal at the finish of the taste. See, everything here sounds good so far, but the body just ruined this for me. WAY over carbonated that really distracted from the overall taste of this brew. Just not an enjoyable mouth feel and the only reason I wont give it a 1 was becasue if you let it sit for a while you were able to note some creamyness. Oh well, perhaps some age will lessen that problem. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2006 bomber-DLD06. pours deep brown with a ruby red tinge around the rim of the glass. Big smokey aroma at initial nose with some dark chocolate in the background. Metallic flavors of copper, baking chocolate and char with an underlying hint of smoke. too much smoke for a foreign stout if you ask me. The metallic flavors and somewhat weak body hinder this one greatly. the carbonation was prickly and biting. hopscotch (5543), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Pitch black ale with a fizzy, brown head. The nutty, roasty aroma is a cyclone of chocolate, hazelnut and smoke. Malty-rich flavor. Lightly sweet and silky smooth. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Finishes smoky and dry. egajdzis (3638), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 30, 2006 Poured an opaque black color with a small, tan head that left clingy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, tons of smoke (reminded me of Alaskan Smoked), nuts, and chocolate. Taste of more smoke, with chocolate, vanilla beans, roasted malt, with no alcohol at all. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2006 It’s been a while since I had a beer, let alone rated one, but here goes. Thanks to Lauren for this birthday gift: 22 oz. bottle, black and white label, "Buckeye Brewing Mammoth Stout, Foreign Stout." Pours a virtually opaque black with an completely monstrous, rocky, dark brown head; almost used-motor-oil-thick. Aroma is quite sweet with some light roast and coffee, and a tiny bit of ashiness; sadly nondescript, however. Very sweet and a bit creamy (similar to other oatmeal stouts), the flavor is dark and roasty, chocolatey, and barely sour; aftertaste does exhibit a bit of hoppiness to complement the roast. Very good mouthfeel; thick and creamy, smooth, and just the tiniest bit overcarbonated; slightly sticky but not overly so for the style. This is a solid stout that’s not really lacking in any particular aspect, but on the whole it just isn’t mind-blowing or very unique. I think my main issue is that it has a high intensity without the complexity to back it up. Nonetheless, a solid beer. a10555 (125), West Chester, Ohio, USA

Has a nice chocolate start, and finishes with a very smooth really light hoppy flavor. Very surprising beer, my expectations were not really high based on the labeling and price. Will buy again. kramer (2515), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 21, 2006 22 oz bottle, via OhioDad. Black and white label, proclaiming that it is an "Export Stout". Completely opaque black pour, quite like motor oil, with a one inch chocolate brown head composed of fine bubbles. Sweet lactose and roast aroma, with some coffee and chocolate pudding, a bit on the lighter side overall. Rather sweet taste with roasted and chocolate malts, candied fruits, and a little black cherry on the finish. Full bodied with a thick and chewy mouthfeel. Nice fine bubbled moderate carbonation. A very solid Stout, not lacking in any aspect. Not sure why this is a Dry Stout, more of a Sweet Stout by my tastes. Very much worth seeking out all the same.
