22 oz bottle, via OhioDad. Black and white label, proclaiming that it is an "Export Stout". Completely opaque black pour, quite like motor oil, with a one inch chocolate brown head composed of fine bubbles. Sweet lactose and roast aroma, with some coffee and chocolate pudding, a bit on the lighter side overall. Rather sweet taste with roasted and chocolate malts, candied fruits, and a little black cherry on the finish. Full bodied with a thick and chewy mouthfeel. Nice fine bubbled moderate carbonation. A very solid Stout, not lacking in any aspect. Not sure why this is a Dry Stout, more of a Sweet Stout by my tastes. Very much worth seeking out all the same.

Bottle: Black with a thick brown head. Aroma has some roasted coffee and a bit of a chocolaty sweetness. Flavor is consitent with that. Medium body, not much of a finish to it though. Solid, but I’ll take one of Buckeye’s IPAs over this anyday.

Pours with a very thick, chocolate milk looking, head, that all but disappeared after a minute or so. Very dark body. Coffe and hoppy flavor. Would like a bit more malt presence.

Opaque black pour with a large brown head that completely dissapears in a few minutes leaving a suprising flat appearance. Higher carbonation mouthfeel medium bodied for a stout. Roast coffee in the aroma and likewise in the flavor. Thats it, not much more here which was dissapointing. I think Buckeye can do much better.

2nd bottle of Buckeye from OhioDad and both have been winners! the bottle says foreign stout, its listed here as a dry stout and I thought it would have been better in the sweet stout catagory. oh well. great aroma of chocolate and some coffee. nice dark stout color with a generous tan head, settles to lace and eventually disappears as the beer warms. mild mix of flavors, including chocolate, coffee malt and dark fruits without a lot of carbonation. I really enjoyed this one, thanks Scott.

Courtesy of Ohiodad..thanks for this BuckEYE Stout. <P> Low intensity aroma features mild roast coffee and little else. Deep black body holds a quickly fading mocha head that compresses to a nickel coin thickness. Very hoppy fore followed by coffee and chocolate notes. Fairly consistent, higher than normal, hops profile throughout. Finish is smooth and creamy. Tasty if fairly narrow on the flavor range. At least the intensity of what you can taste is fairly high.

Bottle. First let me say that I really like Buckeye Brewing. I have been there several times. They brew some excellent IPAs. Due to my good experiences with Buckeye, I had high expectations for this beer. It is labeled as a "foreign stout", which conjures up images of big bold Russian Imperials to me. This was much more in the style of an Irish Stout( which short of St Patrick’s Day, I can do without), and even in Irish style is a poor example. I see that they add oatmeal to give it a creamy taste. It wasn’t creamy, it was thin and lifeless. It poured very dark with a brownish head. It had little aroma. Simply put, THIS BEER IS BLAND! No roastiness, no chocolate flavors, no hints of coffee, no real flavor to impress in any way. Buckeye is better than this!!!!!!!

22oz bottle pours black with a thick milk shake-like tan head that stays pretty well and laces a little on the sides of the galss. Aroma is light milk chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Somewhat earthy as well. Flavor is much the same. Smooth creamy and somewhat airy palate. An extremely drinkable stout with a nice earthy feel. Enjoyable..
