Pours a tar black with a deep, dark, mocha colored head that coats the glass with nice lacing. Pleasant aroma with some coffee accents, dried fruit and chicory. Flavor has a nice dry and roasted presence to it with some day old coffee notes, some chicory, a bit of licorice and some prune-like fruitiness in the back end. Mouthfeel is dry and rich - just right for the style. Pleasantly surprised. Served as a good nightcap. alexsdad06 (1082), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a large tan head that collapses to a lasting 1mm layer. The aroma is creamy chocolate with a nice roast as well. The flavor is roasted malt, chocolate (although not as much as the nose would indicate), and a nice bitterness in the finish. This is smooth from start to finish. Medium bodied. A nice offering from Buckeye. Taverner (853), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Smells, pours and even kinda tastes like root beer! Pours darkest brown with fuzzy brown head. Smells sweet and tastes kinda creamy. I think I want to try this beer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you ever have to introduce someone to stouts, give them this. Tastes slightly chocolaty, but has notes of sarsaparilla, root beer, chocolate and ginger. Sweet malt profile - and an all over enjoyable beer. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 29, 2008 New label? Name is just "Mammoth Stout" with black and gray graphics instead of red and blue. Typical stout, but less chocolatey and more herbal I think. Okay, but better ones out there. cbkschubert (1989), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Has a light to medium mouthfeel that has a nice silky feel to it. Tastes like a smooth malt brew with hints of alcohol, roasty malt, and a hint of chocolate and caramel. Nice brew. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Bomber. Pours dark black with a huge pillowy dark tan head that leaves sticky lace. Pretty highly carbonated this one. Nice milk chocolate aroma. Oats and roastiness also present. Grainy. Does not come off as hoppy even with the supposed dry hopping. Taste is smooth, chalky, lightly roasty with a medium body. Quite clean, low bitterness, low acidity, very smooth. Reminds me an awful lot of St Ambroise Stout. Good though not exceptional.
