Taverner (481), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 14, 2008 Smells, pours and even kinda tastes like root beer! Pours darkest brown with fuzzy brown head. Smells sweet and tastes kinda creamy. I think I want to try this beer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you ever have to introduce someone to stouts, give them this. Tastes slightly chocolaty, but has notes of sarsaparilla, root beer, chocolate and ginger. Sweet malt profile - and an all over enjoyable beer.
dchmela (775), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2008 Sample courtesy Beerlando. Inky black pour with a thick tan head. Coffee hits the nose first and foremost, very dry and almost astringent with little hints of chocolate. Taste is lots of coffee, chocolate malt with a dryness. Nicely balanced and a really good beer. bconley (40), Fern Park, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bad ASS.! Very big chocolate coffee smell. Roasty chocoloate flavor. Very creamy milky body. Really nice malts. I need to have more of this. SO DO YOU!!!! tjthresh (1321), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Oct 2, 2008 22 ounce bottle from GrbDg. Pours opaque black with a fizzy beige lasting head. Very light on aroma. I get some chocolate, roast, and a bit of dried tobacco. The problem is that I had to try way too hard to find any aroma at all. I get some oats in the flavor. Just a bit of roast and what I think is some strong bitterness. Medium body with way too much carbonation for my liking. I must say I’m completely underwhelmed by this beer. jmikolich (363), Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 1, 2008 22oz bottle, pour is a nice deep dark black, with a huge fluffy brown head.... taste is pretty spot on , creamy and chocolatey with roasted malt and something toasty on the exhale.
glad this is local michael-pollack (1484), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 22, 2008 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, roasting, sweet cream, chocolate, and a bit of floral hops. Poured dark dark brown in color with a large, creamy, foamy, thick, brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. No lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, oatmeal, cream, and a hint of coconut. Medium to full body. Thinish, tingky texture turns chalky. Average carbonation. Dry, roasted malt and chocolate finish.
