| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2004 This was an aswesome dry stout. Not overly dry or overly sweet. Perfectly balanced, with just a little too much carbonation. Lots of coffee, creamy roasted richness and subtle dark chocolate flavors in the aftertaste. This one really leaves you wanting another pint. rajendra82 (704), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 20, 2004 Came from the tap with low carbonation, and an attractive dense black appearance appropriate for the style. Aroma heavy on roasted coffee, and the taste was also dominated by roasty nutty flavors. There was a faint undercurrent of bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel was dry and medium thick. I downed my pint quite easily. Aurelius (2652), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 6, 2002 Murky brown-black with stiff camel foam. Chocolate and coffee stout aroma. Bitter chocolate, expresso and fairly hopped flavor. Velvet palate with sharp nutty finish. Quite good. Compares favorably, in overall quality, to Heartland’s Farmer Jon Oatmeal Stout. savitska (163), Smyrna, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 20, 2004 This is my new favorite dry stout. After romancing over Guinness for many years before I know what I was missing, I realized that sweet or milk stouts are my favorite form of that venerable style. But now I’ve sampled the supremely coffee-and-dark chocolate-accented Black Diamond Stout and suddenly dry stouts are again an option. Great, rich color; fabulous aroma, wonderful mouthfeel (though not all that dry). This is a phenomenal beer. TheBeerCollector (548), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 23, 2004 Well balanced flavor that is dominated by roasted chocolate malt. Medium bodied with lots of carbonation. Coffee flavors come through in the finish. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 23, 2002 As for appearance, I need not describe it. Pretty typical for a stout. For an Irish style dry stout, it’s unusually powerful in flavor. The espesso flavor of the dark malt is strong and there are some underlying caramel flavors and aromas underneath. Since it isn’t served on nitro it won’t come across quite as creamy as Guinness, but it is more flavorful. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2004 Black appearance with a moderate head and good lacing. Chocolate and coffee flavor with a hint of smoke. Medium bodied with a bitter finish. A good dry stout. PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 31, 2002 No distinct aroma, thick, creamy pour with a lacy head. Very dark black appearance. Initially smooth and smoky but bitters up toward the end.
Not bad for a microbrewery stout.
