Bud anything is horrible, so I do not know how I dealt with this. I guess considering my options at the time, Natural Ice and Icehouse, this was a premium offering. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

Taste and aroma have a very skunky aroma to them, this brew just has nothing to offer with almost no taste, which can be very good when you are dealing with really cheap beer, but the tastes you do get are not fun to deal with. | 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Nov 26, 2004 Feb, 2003: Drunk this with a Foster’s Ice. The bottles are similar, but the Bud has a cracked ice motif around the shoulder that is nifty. Both have blue labels, but the Foster’s has a rather neat Kangaroo, which is repeated on the cap. The colours look an almost identical weak yellow, but Foster’s has a slightly browner tinge. When poured the heads are again similar, though the Bud’s shows itself to be smoother. After a pause the Bud head dies down to nothing while the Foster’s stays in place, a little ragged, but all the more attractive because of it. The Bud has a sickly malt aroma, while the Foster’s has a sweet sewer malt aroma - neither are pleasant, but the Foster’s is the more interesting. Both taste of corn and both have pockets of sweetness, but the Bud has a faint lemon tone, false tasting like washing up liquid, while the Foster’s has some metallic apple. The Bud also has a hint of banana, but the Foster’s has more malt presence. The Bud is crisper and cleaner compared to the Foster’s slightly oily texture, but the Foster’s has a more significant tang. Overall there’s not a lot to choose between the two - they are both almost naked of taste, and what taste there is is mostly artificial and unpleasant. They initially refresh, but the corn taste lingers, cloying the mouth so that you want another drink. I’d put the Foster’s slightly ahead with it’s malt flavours.
