Surprisingly hoppy, bit of heat from the alcohol, bit creamy in mouth. Bit syrupy like some European strong lagers can be. Finish has more hops and touch of sugar sweetness. Hops make this quite drinkable. 2.6/5
Re-rate, bottle at St Albans 2007. Clear gold, lasting white head. Slight bock-y aroma from alcohol. Crisp. Very good hop on end. No burn, good viscousity. Silky mouthfeel. Excellent strong strong beer. theacelatrain (262), Washington DC, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 29, 2005 Bottle. Deep gold color with very little head. Big nose of malts. Flavors are fruity and malty, but the alcohol is poorly hidden. Good at first, but sticky-sweet and kinda gross by the end of the bottle, which I find typical of the style. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 27, 2005 [Bottle] Pale gold, with a short-lived, fairly loose head. Malty aroma initially, but soon seems to disappear. Sweetish alcohol flavours, with underlying malt and fruit notes. The finish is predominantly the alcohol again, but with some hops; it’s that cloying that I’m feeling thirstier AFTER the beer than I was before! Think I’ll stick to the regular Budvar. pivnizub (5086), Bochum, Porúří, Germany
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 19, 2005 Bottle: Pale golden colour, thin, quickly diminishing white foam; small malty nose (cookies) with some alcoholic and bitter notes; sweet beginning, sweet flavour, nearly no aftertaste, only a tinge of bitterness; disappointing simple ! | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 18, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Comes as "Bud - super strong" at 7,2% ABV. Golden without much head. Compared to the "real" Budweiser this is less refined, some of the more subtle touches - e.g. the fruity maltiness - disappear in the strong alcohol burn. And the alcohol is very evident. But not really bad for a strong lager. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 10, 2005 Bottle thanks to Thomas E. Golden colour with a medium white head. Sweet malty aroma and a sweet malty light alcoholic hoppy taste. Medium body and a sweet finish. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 29, 2005 Bottled. Grassy, sweet aroma. Hints of skunkiness, alcohol, sweetness in the taste. Grassy hops and alcohol in the finish. Not my type of beer. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Bottle. Lacks the qualities that make normal budvar (soft juicy malt balanced by peppery saaz in a drinkable finish). Overly sweet with nutty alcohol.
