Commercial Description:
Brew Masters’ Private Reserve is an exceptionally rich beer that is a symphony of character, featuring a balanced hop aroma with 8.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). Based on the time-honored Budweiser brewmaster holiday tradition of collecting the richest first part of the brew as it is tapped to the brew kettles to celebrate the season, this is the first time it is being made available to the public.

2006 bottle bought at the local supermarket for $7.95. It’s clear that the pricing is related to the bottle, because the beer itself is average at best. Pours a golden color with a minimal head. Slight aroma to it, and taste is rather smooth, but nothing to write home about. I like the bottle, it’ll come in handy the next time I do a home brew.

pale, clear, white foam, full body, average carbonation, decent aroma. This goes to show that even the big boys like Bud are trying to get into the craft beer market. This is not a bad first attempt. Decent aroma and flavor. The alcohol is hidden, but boy am I feeling it now. The bottle itself is a keeper, and considering this was 46.5 oz. of good beer for $10, I would definitely get it again.

From a swing top 1qt. brown non returnable bottle, with born on date, 10/12/05 and lot number SR77. Made a good appearance, poured into a pint glass a golden amber with a nice sized foamy white head that reduced to a thin lacing and a minimal amount of sticking. Had a good All-Malt aroma, a rice malty. Medium carbonation and a wet, slick light bodied mouth feel, very drinkable. Taste was, yes, like Budweiser, but with more sour malt and a little lemony presence, with a nice alcohol burn on the tongue and a dry crisp finish. This is a very good American All-Malt Lager, even if it is brewed by A-B. Well worth trying, purchased at Friar Tuck in Peoria, IL. for $10.99. ___ Born on date, 25.Sept.06, lot no. SR71, A/4,S/4,T/4.5,M/4,D/4.5 Very enjoyable All-Malt Lager, a deep sour grainy taste with a light spicy, grassy hoppiness and a dry cereal grainy, malty finish, the alcohol is well masked behind the malty sweetness. A seasonal lager that I look forward to, I don’t care if it comes from A-B, very drinkability, tasty and balanced, give it a try before you judge.

Big headed, yellow and very still. Silky consistency. Pretty corny ... not just the concept, but the flavor, too. Pretty much a Bud, but with the warming power of the 8.5%. Look, I really appreciate A-B’s attempts to do something better, but is an aged, amped-up version of their adjunct-heavy pale lagers really a step in the right direction?

My 250th rating. Hope its a good one! 2006 Big A$$ bottle. Yellow color(Thats not good already). Smell of hops, malt, hints of vanila, sugar, alcohol and corn. Yummy! Tastes the same with out the vanila. WHAT A JOKE! I was expecting a lot more from AB. For $10, I thought because of the nice big bottle and foiled embossed box, that this beer is special, but I was wrong. This Sucks! I hope my 300th rating won’t turn out like this.

Sampled at Broudy’s Holiday Beerfest 12/2/2006, Jacksonville FL. I suppose the joke was on me to rate a Budweiser as my #400. I have been waiting a long time for AB to brew something I could say I actually liked, and this was it. I didn’t notice it as a malt liquor when I was trying it but in retrospect it certainly fits the style. Big beautiful fliptop bottle. Very malty and creamy with a hint of vanilla and caramel. Alcohol presence is noticeable but not distracting. Interesting.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Liquors - 32 oz latch top bottle - dark golden pour, little to no head - attractive bottle and fancy gift box bumped the appearance up to a 3. Tried and tried - but cannot get a whiff of an aroma. Flavor has hints of vanilla, some cake mix sweetness and a lot of booze. Reminds me of some Eastern European Premium lagers. Very smooth for a malt liquor and does not have the feel of a 8.5% beer. Probbaly should not have drank this on an empty stomach....
