It is sweet in the taste and has notes of caramel. Medium body. Not too bad from Budweiser. markas101 (580), Fargo, North Dakota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 18, 2008 2007 Vintage, Fargo, ND. Amber colour, malty caramel aroma. I scored one of the magnums for $5.99 at a clearance so value for money it was good - had I paid the $26.99 ’original price’ I may have been upset! ilovedarkbeer (1367), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Felt like I was going to lose an eye when I went to open this swing top magnum. Lots of carbonation in the pop. Pours nothing like the picture. Color is a reddish brown color that is unlike any I have ever seen. Nose is total caramel, sugar, and a faint scent of hops. Taste is total caramel and sweetnes with a nice warming finish. Honestly I am impressed that this beer is from budweiser but it is not going to earn it extra points. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Updated: Mar 8, 2008I had read reviews of this beer and it prevented me from buying it....I gave in..I honestly think some of these people are lying...First off, I taste NO CORN, I do not think any was used.....It is not "Golden" either.....Im not a huge fan of this brewery, just to note......I think some on here are trying to compare it to the original lager or just snobes against Budweiser, we need to be open minded on here.....Now, for rating it as a doppelbock, this is actually pretty good....Pours a nice dark amber color with very nice off-white head that has decient retention....Im drinking it now.....has laced the glass....Aroma of sweet malt with a light dark roast aroma as well....Flavor is sweet and malty, and ofcoarse, some dark roast....this beer is nicely carbonated as well, has some body to it.......This is a good beer, and the best I have tried from Budweiser......this should be the beer we buy off the shelves on a regular basis....but they would lose money due to the majority of the world prefering beer with no flavor.....so sad......also, as a note, why is the color of the beer in the picture golden when this is a dark amber????? ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Bottle from Daniel. Thanks. I dont really know what is going on with that picture of this beer - this stuff is no where near yellow like that. Dark brown color with a light brown head on it. Some sweet and rich flavors in the smell, caramel and not really alot of hop presence. Tastes good, sweet and easy to drink. There is alot of beer in this bottle, so either be thirsty, or split it with several people. Really underrated; I think people rate it based on the fact that it is an AB product. Proof that AB can release a good beer, too bad they do not do it often. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Quite possibly the best brew i have drank from AB. pours out a clean dark brown color with a nice beige head. aroma was sweet and rather malty. flavor was very much the same. finish was clean and the alcohol was nicely hidden. over all a good beer. Bottle was huge. rustbucket0873 (146), Krikville, New York, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 6, 2008 A very nice looking package and bottle. Pours a light golden color with a frothy then turning fizzy white head. Reminiscent of a bock, with sticky sweet maltiness. Grainey, pale and full of rice on the grain MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Bottle. 2007. Split with a few friends. Pours a copper amber with initial big beige head that quickly disapears. Aroma is sweet and full of caramel with some faint vegetable. Flavor is full of malt, sweet, with caramel throughout. Faint herbal notes as well as maple and other faint and possibly dark fruit notes. It was hard to get through the alcohol and sweetness though. Mouthfeel was on the syrupy flat side. Not unpleasant although hard to finish the glass. It just seemed overbearing with sweetness and alcohol without enough flavor to back it up.
