Pour was a light gold with a nice 2 finger white head. Taste was grainy and dry. A bit of light malt on the tongue with a little hop nod in the back. Typical for the style. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Bottle. Pours a light amber, golden colour with white head. Aroma of pilsner, sweetness, hop. Flavour is slight bitter and hoppy. Not a Pilsner man, so I didn’t really enjoy it. Wulfstan (509), California, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Updated: May 28, 2008This is a wonderful, smooth, very tasty beer that is well-deserving of its status as a classic. It is a deep gold with a big, dense white head that slowly dissipates to a strong ring and wisps. The aroma is strong of toasted bread, yeast, pine, with hints of honey and flowers. The taste is strong with mostly sweet grain, biscuit with a light floral hop bitterness that becomes more pronounced just before the finish, which is an excellent marriage of banana and toasted grain. The flavour is strong and persistent. It’s incredibly smooth and pleasant, easy to drink but very full of flavour. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA

A very close relative to Urquell, just a bit more malty. 30-40 years ago, many German and Alsatian Pilsners tasted like this, hops were used more sparingly (not least because of expense). A side effect of more malt was a more severe headache when overindulging which may have played a role in piling on the hops. That coincided with the demand for ever-drier (especially white Riesling) wines by increasingly younger drinkers. rodenbach99 (708), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Pours a very light amber, almost transparent, with a diminishing medium white head. The aroma is strongly skunky (a la Carlsberg) with a slight amount of citrus. Taste has a slight amount of skunkiness in the palate, otherwise it is lightly ctirus. It has some carbonation and is refreshing but nothing exciting.
