| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Packaged as Czechvar. 500ml bottle poured into a pint glass. Poured a golden color with a decent 1" head that lasted a couple minutes. Hmmm, smells like beer. Good malt & hop balance in the aroma with a hint of citrus (or maybe it’s a hint of skunk). Tastes of sweet malts and bitter hops. Just the right balance as neither are dominating the flavor. Pretty average Lager feel. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Crisp finish. It’s quite drinkable but it’s not to be downed too fast. I have easily enjoyed a few of these in one evening. Only if American Budweiser would taste this good. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 28, 2009 11.2 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Atlanta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a bright, clear, golden body with a medium-large, white head, though it quickly settles down to a thin, quarter inch layer.
Smell: Lightly sweet-scented barley with a hint of dough gently yields to some soft, spicy Saaz notes.
Taste: A light, sweet maltiness with a doughy bent to it kicks things off followed by a balancing touch of spicy, grassy Saaz hops and bitterness. Minor hint of lemon verbena. Little murmur of diacetyl butteriness in the background. Dry finish with that Saaz spiciness riding out into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Worth a try. Fairly tasty, easily drinkable -- it’s a nice little beer. BiddleBrau (330), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
