Bottle. Pours dark brown with medium floffy head. Aroma is malty with some roastiness. Flavour is dark candy sugar and dark malts. Good bitterness. Pleasant dunkel.

draught at Moldava station, Ceske Rupublika. A smooth, dark, roasty flavoured beer, with a fairly dense, lasting, head. actually somewhat similar to a strong mild, with a coffee & chocolate aftertaste. certainly preferred this to any of the brewery’s pale offerings. tasted all the better for costing 35p, a tenth of the price in most UK pubs

Dark mahogany with a red hue and a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and caramel. The flavour has sweetness and notes of roasted malt, caramel, candy sugar and a suitable, slightly citrussy, bitterness in the finish, and at the end also slightly dry. It’s smooth, mellow and pleasant.

Tap at Ship Centurion, Whitstable. Named Dark Lager. Light mouthfeel. Coffee grounds flavoured frisky carbonated lager. Blur of caramel in the finish. I’ve never quite got dark lagers. The light, clean body of a lager is fine for delivering a crisp, refreshing, thirst quenching drink that also cleans the palates - but when you combine it with dark, considered flavours there is an uncomfortable and unsettling clash. This was new to the Ship and the regulars were keen to try it - but it wasn’t proving popular with either the lager drinkers (nah, give us the Bitbuger) nor the ale drinkers (I prefer the Elgood’s Black Dog). I suspect the novelty of a black lager will soon wear thin, and the Budvar will be going home.

High fluffy but lasting off-white head. Very dark red brown body. Lovely roasted barley malt aroma with a bit of caramel and hints of cocoa. Mild and yet hoppy caramel coffee flavor. Low carbonation. Long coffee like aftertaste.

Bottle in Moscow. Dark brown color, with a thin beige foam. Sweet Coffee aroma and notes of chocolate and toffee. Flavor is balanced betwen sweetness and bitterness, notes of toffee and average carbonation, Mouthfeel is a little bitter at finish.

Português: Cerveja marrom escura, com uma espuma bege e fina. Aroma adocicado de café e notas de chocolate e caramelo. Sabor balanceado entre o doce e o amargo, notas de caramelo e média carbonatação. Retrogosto um pouco amargo.<P>

Cask. Roasted malt aroma, roasted malt taste. Boring and disappointing. 160208
