Pours dark slightly red, with a small quick disappearing head. Aroma has a lot of very roasted malts.

A Mes rate: 50cl bottle from Grape Sense in Chalk Farm. Much more impressed with this than I was expecting. I’m a bit of a dark lager fan anyway but still, this is pretty tasty. Excellent semi-translucent dark brown / amber colour with a pretty stable mushroom coloured head. Really good sweet malt, chocolate and heavy coffee aroma with a very light sourness to it. Flavour very similar but with some light tobacco hoppage that to be honest lets it down just a little. A lick of card also does it no favours. Nice coffe malt finish brings it back. Decent stuff.

Bottle. Huge bubbly light brown head that mostly lasted. Good display of thick film like lacework. Somewhat clear dark mahogany color. Nice sniff of hops with notes of floral, hint of ashtray, light toasted malty notes, underlying caramel and grain sweet feel. Maybe even a hint of smoke in there as well. Medium bodied with a light dry texture and an average carbonation. Light sweet and bitter flavor. Somewhat dry and light bitter finish.

Bottel.50cl. For me this one of the best dark lager, i have tasted, good aroma, fine body, and good head.

Tap... reminded me of a watered down Guinness. Not bad overall, but I like the light Budvar better.

0.5 l bottle. Dark brown colored body with, for dunkel quite big pale brown head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, caramel and coffee which are also present in the flavor. Somehow leaves watery impression, although not too much. Some bitterness present in the finish, which is Not too much carbonation. Not bad beer, but empty. //edit: Had it again, agree with everything said, just impaired the ratings.

(Bottle BB 07/06/08) Roasted malty and caramel aroma. Dark red brown colour and large, light brownish head with fair/good lacing. Roasted malty, caramel and coffee flavour with a hint of licorice. Lively carbonated, chalky and medium-bodied palate. Tasty, well-balanced brew! 09/08/07

Brown, beige collapsing head. Malty aroma. Sweet. Faintly metallic. Hard carbonation. Mild flavour. Roasted malts with notes of malty sweetness. Vague hoppy bitter finish. Watery palate. Boring.
