Deep Brown, Nice and balanced malty and fruity. With a heavy fruit front and a long finnish thats a little bitter (better in cask ,scored cask) gbbf bottle tasting session... deeep ruby red ... rich smokey fruity lager ... rich flavour ... lager tones but some caramel and roast malts . 3.8

(Draught at Cafe Evropa, Prague) Amber, offwhite/brownish head. A bit roasted malty aroma. Malty and hoppy flavor. roasted notes, some vanilla and chocolate. Somewhat bitter finish.

Delish! What a tasty little black bugger this is from the Budvar boys! Kind of dry and bitter like a stout, but refreshingly drinkable like a lager. Very strange; very nice!

500ml bottle from Morrisons - branded as Budweiser Budvar Czech Dark Lager.A dark chestnut with a slight reddish glow, and a beige head; thin aroma of roast malt; in the mouth there is more chocolate malt, but still rather thin; leaving a dry aftertaste. Less than I expected from Budwieser Budvar.

Very lively on pouring from the bottle.The large head took some time to settle down. Reasonably pleasant combination of tastes but all round not that impressive.

A new foreign beer that isn’t a pale lager and can be easily found. Now that’s something you don’t see here often... It poured a dark...say...red/brown colour, with a nice, big, thick spongy tan head that went away at a medium pace. Taste... roasty, hoppy (fresh/herbal), and just a touch of cocoa and toffee. Taste... didn’t impress me.... thinnish taste, metallic hints, powdery, dry coffee and chocolate hints, some roastiness and some honey. Hops are noticable in the background and the aftertaste but they’re not very prominent... but that’s ok for the style I guess. Hoppy/roasty long but faint finish. Ok, but failed to impress me.

Bottled(500ml). -as Budweiser Budvar Premium Dark. Dark brown coloured, small beige head, nice coffee nose. Roasted malt and strong coffee aroma with bitter chocolate and earthy notes. Dry and mild bitterish coffee finish.

(bottled, 4.7% ABV, as Budw. Premiun Dark Lager) Clear, dark mahogany colour with a big and slowly lacing beige foamy head. Sweet and roasty dark malt aroma with a touch of cacao and distinctive herbal and slightly grassy hops. Bitter flavour, roast-malty taste with notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee; rather slim bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel; dry and bitter finish with caramel, a hoppy blend and chocolate in the aftertaste. Likeable.
