A dry and remarkably smooth beer that is well worth seeking out on draught when in the Czech Republic EFC1878 (292), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England

Roasted malt predominates in the nose but reveals nice hop characteristics (Saaz) on closer inspection. The initial hit is of roast malts eventually being balanced by a hint of sweetness. Long hoppy finish. Despite its appearance and the use of stout-type malts the end result is surprisingly light. Fantastic stuff and, if you can find it, the cask version is even better. Aint got nothing witty or too reflective to say.Very swillable ,roasted malty & this more obscure Budvar is cooler than the very decent Pils . . Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

Based on taste, I’m assuming this is the same beer. Poured out black with a big white creamy head. Smelled of pepper, nuts and has some floral notes. Tasted of caramel and chocolate with some bitter citrussy notes. Peppery finish. cgarvieuk (4183), Edinburgh, Scotland
