Blah. Awful beer...not that I was expecting anything great. Aroma was stunning. Strong blueberry with nothing else. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with no head. Taste was very thin and weak. Strong blueberry and grain, with a bitter drying aftertaste. Tastes like cereal. Almost no carbonation. I would call this a fruit beer instead of a stout. Has no stout like qualities.

Tasting at River’s Bend. Pours dark brown with a faint tan head. Smells kind of like blueberry pancakes, which is a good thing. Blueberry is less present in the flavor, more of a balanced mix of chocolate, oats and blueberries. Average palate, interesting beer, not something I would have picked out on my own but not bad.

Overrated, watery, imbalanced, thin, and not enough blueberries. 30 lbs. of blueberries a batch may sound like a lot - but that depends on the size of the bath in regard to the other ingredients. Too much water!

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a slow-forming and thin tan head. Aromas are heavy of blueberries (although they come through as a little artificial) and not much else is detectable. Flavor is also heavy on the blueberries, to the point where they overpower everything else until the very late aftertaste where there is a bit of a stout-like chocolatiness. This is pretty good if you like blueberries, but not very good if you are looking for a stout.

Pour is clear dark brown with a light tan head. Smells like blueberry filling in a pie. Pretty dang good smelling to be honest. The stout comes through much more so than any berry flavor does which is nice. I get a nice roasted barley character, some smooth oats, and only a few hints of sweet berries in the finish. This brew mixes pretty well which I did not expect. Has a very light body but very well blended tasty flavors. Heck, I might buy this again.

Bottle. This brew pours with the standard characteristics of a good stout - black as midnight in color, small, tight tan head. The aroma is huge on blueberry. The flavor is very mellow, sweet, creamy, with a ton of fruit. It is probably what I would hand a person new to the style. It is very easy to drink, and was very enjoyable.

Fruity but not so super blueberry. Hidden in the not so rich stout. Some hints of chocolate and cream. Some bitterness and dry end. Easy and drinkable and could have more fruit for me.

This beer’s 50th rating. Bottle. Firm, yummy blueberry nose, thankfuilly not blindingly artificial. No stout smell to speak of. Very dark brown pour with a very creamy, rocky light brown head. Good lacing. Roasty mostly very dry stout with sweet blueberries accenting nicely. Good blending, no element too far apart from the next. Some nice chococlate on the bottom. Creamy, lightly prickling feel, has a lot of body for something I’m labeling medium (it’s filling!). Overall, a close second to DH’s Tres, and I don’t think I’d ever turn either down. Yum!
