The aroma is comprised, as one might expect if they carefully investigated the malt bill of the beer, interviewed the principles involved with its creation and production or read the beer’s label, mostly of a strong blueberry aroma.
Chocolate is present as well, but it a chalky, low-grade version or rather it gives off the aroma of one. The blueberry itself smells a touch chemical in origin, but I do not know that it is. The body is full black and supports a diminishing, but creamy mocha head. The first sip is quite sweet. Chocolate, coffee and blueberry, which again seem to have the slightly bitter and alcohol-tinged taint of a chemical source, make up the bulk of the middle flavor ranges. The finish is mostly comprised of dark fruit and chocolate but the aftertaste is of perfume and chemical solvents. The mouth feel is full and thick though which makes it enjoyable to swallow if not necessarily to taste.

Big blueberry aroma from open bottle that dissipated to notes of roast and chocolate malts. Black with big creamy tan head. Roast malt flavors with some blueberry in the background with a moderate hop bitterness. Medium body with low carbonation. Medium dry finish with some nice roast and bitterness lingering. maniac (2773), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Roasted malt, chocolate and blueberries in the aroma. More roasted and chocolate malt with blueberries shining through followed by a mild bitter finish. Certainly not overpowered by fruit, and well balanaced. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2008 Bottle... Pours midnight black with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is a nice swirl of blueberry, coffee and chocolate. Full-bodied and creamy with prickly carbonation. Sweet, acrid and fruity. Chocolate, blueberry and coffee with decent bitterness. Surprisingly well-done. I’ll be drinking more of this. Underrated, I think. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Bottle. Pour was deep brown-black, nice choco colored head, lacing was decent on the way down. Aroma was full chocoalte, light roast, totally missed the blueberries, kids were upset they didn’t smell it either. The flavor was full chocolate, roast, and blueberries, which came on much stronger as it warmed. The mouthfeel was grainy, somewhat gritty even, a bit of a turnoff (think sand or something like that in the beer), adding in there a touch of a metallic taste. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Pours pitch black, opaque colour with a tan head. Aromas strong of blueberries, and soft oats. Creamy mouthfeel, chocoaltey, coffee, oatmeal, and blueberries. Nice beer overall. very fun to sip on during the cold winter months.
