Dark brown color with a small head. Much darker in the glass than during the pour.
Smell of canned blueberries with hints of cocoa. Could faintly smell alcohol.
First sip was a strong blueberry bitterness followed by roasted malts and chocolate. Later sips had less blueberry and more malt, but a nice blueberry aftertaste.
At 7.5% I found it to be quite refreshing. A good summer alternative for those who enjoy stouts but tend to avoid them during the warm season. jimmack34 (570), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 12, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pour root beer brown with an amber hue. Head was minimal and tan. Smells like blueberry. The berry pretty much overpowers everything. Tastes of blueberry, very slightly roasted grain, and a nice sweet tart finish. Not too bad. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 23, 2009 From bottle. Has a subdued blueberry musky aroma on top of a sweet chocolate stout malt character. It’s a bit difficult to get other aromas because with the windows open and the current breeze, I’m getting a lot of the spooge tree aroma here in the living room - annoying. There’s a bit of spicy character to the beer, almost peppery. Dark brown-black clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium silky body with medium carbonation. Starts pretty sweet, with blueberry and chocolate and carbonic acidity. Not bitter, but there’s a chalky pith bitterness that is the result of the sweet malt and the berry flavor. A bit off-putting, but not horrible. Fruit flavors and stouts are a tricky business, and I’m not sure if blueberry in the right one to pair with a stout. Regardless, the finish is light roasted bitter malt with a hint of blueberry. After is chocolate-nutty. esjaygee (1578), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Not quite sure who they were marketing this one after, but it just left me wanting a Dark Horse tres about two sips in. Clear mahogany with a medium tan head. Aroma of blueberry pancakes and blueberry syrup, oatmeal and a touch of roasted malt. Taste of blueberries, but not in a very good way. Artificial and plastic-like and overpower whatever else they were trying to do here. Perhaps some darker roasted malts as it ended with some malt astringency. Not very good. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 14, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a deep black with a mocha web of bubbles on top. Aroma is blueberry but its not overwhelming. This tastes like a quality oatmeal stout; mild roast, a touch of chocolate and a pleasant finish of blueberry. amg800 (35), Ada, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2009 I was skeptical when my fiance broght this to my attention. I was plesently surprised. Blueberry flavor balanced well. Which will probably prove to be tuff in the homebrew lab. Everything else I make with blueberries is overloaded with blueberry flavor.
Dark in the glass
Slight aroma of blueberries

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Appearance: Pours a relatively clear, dark, reddish-brown body with a wispy, light beige head.
Smell: Aroma smelling of light chocolate and roasted barley, all set against some particularly strong wafts of blueberry additive.
Taste: A taste of darkened grains with a subdued taste of unsweetened chocolate powder. Curiously, there’s an inherent, unpleasant astringency to whole thing. But, then here comes the tart blueberry tones, though, unfortunately, they have some rather artificial qualities to them. A pity. Finishes with a touch of roasty bitterness and more of that displeasing astringency.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: No, thank you. If you’re in desperate need for a blueberry-based stout, please turn your attention rightfully to Dark Horse’s Tres Blueberry Stout. The unrewarding blueberry flavoring couldn’t (and could never) make up for a deficient stout. BrownDogBeer (50), Portland, Oregon, USA
