Fairly light and fresh aroma of hops and malty sweetness. This tastes pretty dry and sour for a pumpkin brew. I really dont pick up much spice or pumpkin flavor at all, and my nose isn’t the least bit stuffed up (unlike a number of people whom I saw today, so maybe it will be tomorrow). This loses a point or two for not living up to expectations. It is a decent brew, but not much of a pumpkin ale. No freshness date - maybe it was past its prime. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 30, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a clear, orange to deeper golden body with a thin, fizzy, white head that dissipates quickly into nothing leaving practically no lacing. Almost looks like an orange colored glass of water. Aroma is lighter amounts of pumpkin pie and medium amounts of the usual nutmeg and cinnamon spices. A bit of a minty, mineral smell as well. Flavor is the same. Lighter, sweet pumpkin flavors with a slightly off balance spicing. Too much nutmeg with a light cinnamon in there. I think the minty, mineral smell I picked up was the overuse of nutmeg. Almost gives off a bit of a ginger flavor too. Finishes dry and smooth with a medium pumpkin spice aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with a decent carbonation. Overall, an okay tasting pumpkin. The flavor is there, but it seems a little off to me. Eh... tmoreau (597), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Sampled at Famous Liquors Fall /Oktoberfest Tasting in lombard,IL. Poured a light amber with modest, off white foam and lacing. Both aroma and flavor were light malt, pumpkin and pie spices. High carbonation and thin. The original seasonal pumpkin ale that I recall as fuller bodied and flavored in the past. fluffy (229), Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 23, 2009 pours amber gold with a thin head. aroma is definitely pumpkin and spices. flavor is somewhat nutty with some toffee like notes, and the roasted aspect of the pumpkin really stands out. a little candied sweetness left over on the palette. probably the top tier of pumpkin beers out there. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 21, 2009 I’ve seen this one for years at World Market during the Fall season....I finally found it sold in singles. I thought, "what the hell." I always figured this was a crappy seasonal contract brew... Turns out I was right.... Pours a hazy copper gold color with a head that quickly dissipates... No lacing, aroma is ...pumpkinny....it has a funny spice aroma. It has a dirty dishwater flavor... Not a bad attempt....just not the best... Zaprozdower (42), Boone, North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Having a pumpkin ale sampler day. This example did not impress. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy but flavor and aroma were subtle and not what I want from this style. Slightly astringent and a strange aftertaste. thirdeye11 (553), Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 19, 2009 ( 12oz bottle) Pours very clear light orange. Nose of nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon. Taste is dry, raw pumpkin, and cinnamon. Reminds of Christmas. Lingers with spices and nicely sweet. JAF737300 (797), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 18, 2009 POurs golden. It has decent notes of nutmeg and cinnamon as well as cloves. The initial mouthfeel shows decent pumpkin but it fades fast. It does have nice ale balance to it and shows an decent underlying ale style beer.
