The clouds and cold of Chicago sent me out to find my favorite part about the fall - pumpkin ales. Too bad I found this one first. Hazy orange pour with a thin whitish head. The pumpkin really stood out to my nose, but not in a good way - it smelled more like sweet bread than beer. Watery mouth-feel with more of the sweet, spicy bread flavor. This might not be bad for adding to a few recipes I know, but I can’t drink much more out of the bottle. csbosox (1085), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 8, 2005 12oz bottle. Pours reddish orange with a light off-white head. The aroma is spice and pumpkin, lots of spice; nutmeg, cinamon, cloves, allspice? The inital taste is spice, almost like hot spiced cider you might get at a christmas tree farm. The midtaste is spice too, lot’s of spice. Pumpkin is in there, somewhere. No real beer flavor, the liquid is just a spice carrier. The mouthfeel is just not pleasant with the cloves, they are just overwelhimg. It would be a drain pour if it wasn’t alcoholic. This beer will just be one to get me one closer to a nice beer buzz tonight. 0/2 on pumpkin beers today. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2005 Pours a bright orange color, small white head. Aroma is big and spicy, nutmeg cinnamon, allspice dominate the nose. Flavor is way too spiced. Its all just spice and water with some hops in there somewhere. 1FastSTi (2590), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 2, 2005 Sampled from a bottle, I poured this into my glass. It pours to a hazy amber glowing body with a thin nearly non-existent white head. You can smell this beer across the room its so strong. Tons of pumpkin pie aromas. Spicy, pumpkiny. I think this tastes pretty good. I think it’s a good rendition but 4 oz is enough for me, although it’s not cloying. I’m going to make a bread with the rest of it. Hopefully that turns out nicely. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 30, 2005 12oz. bottle. Clear golden orange color with a small off white head. Sweet baking spice aroma of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. The flavor I feel is overloaded with nutmeg. The other spices are there, but the nutmeg really stands out, and not in a good way. Do not think I can finish this beer. Rballs01 (264), Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 27, 2005 Not so good this Pumpkin Brew?!? Clove overload. Poured it into a chilled glass. The head was creamy and stuck everywhere. The smell was overpowering of cinnomon and cloves. No pleasant flavors to savor. A little to overpowering this year. Shave that stear and try again next year! SmellGood (319), Memphis, Tennessee, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Sep 23, 2005 Little to no head when poured. I tried to like it since it was my first spice/herb/vegetable beer but it was just too painful. TomDecapolis (3218), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 23, 2005 Pours a slightly hazy lighter orange with a small off white head. Head disappears. Aroma is heavy on the cinnamon and nutmeg with a hint of pumpkin. Flavor is the same, a little too much cinnamon and nutmeg. Can pick up some pumpkin too. A bit artifical.
