The aroma has lots of grapefruit, some sweetness to balance and some toasty smooth malt. Medium / full smooth body with some sharpness & crispness along with a nice underscored carbonation. The flavor starts with earthy / piny hops that give the beer a dryness. there is not too much noticeable malt, but there is enough to give some balance. The finish is dry, woody and resiny with a pine cone like effect. The resin just lingers in the mouth. Very nice local STL IIPA. esjaygee (1578), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Draft at the brewpub, 8oz. snifter. Strongly fruity aroma, floral and sweet with notes of orange, honey, toasted grains and a touch of caramel. Hazy medium copper color, head is fine, slight and lasting, good lace. Flavor is initially sweet, malty and toasty, but quickly turning citric and strongly bitter, with aspects of grapefruit, orange and pine. Smoothly effervescent, resinous mouthfeel, body is medium-full. Lingering, powerful bitterness. Pretty typical for the style, overall.
