Cask... Pre-GABF ’06 at Falling Rock Tap House, Denver... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Terrific retention. Notes of evergreen, grapefruit and mild toffee in the aroma. Medium bitter flavor. Medium-bodied and creamy with hardly any carbonation. Lengthy, tongue numbingly bitter finish. Not an overly bitter finish; the lupulin simply provides a pleasant Novocain effect on the tongue.

Draught, Falling Rock. Head is mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), heavily hoppy (resin), moderately yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Poorly balanced, yeasty-stinky, and thin. Not enjoyable.

Cask @ Faliing Rock: Hazy orange copper color with an off-white head. Earthy and piney hop foward with some light notes of diacetyl. Very hoppy flavor and bitterness. Light on the malt. The dry finsih was very long and bitter.

Draft pint at the brewpub, 9/11/06: Orangey-copper with a firm pillowtopped head. Again, little aroma here. BIG malty power at first with a puckeringly lime-like finish. More and more cookie-like as I swallow.

Cask @ Falling Rock poured a cloudy golden yellow with a minamal white head. Aroma of piny citrusy hops. Mouthfeel was dry and resiny. Flavors of grapefruit rind, pine and a bit of carmel with a dry bitter finish. Very out of balance but Its a hopheads dream.

Cask at Falling Rock. Hazed gold. Nose is strong hop notes (pine and citrus), sweet malts, and caramel. Taste is hops, citrus fruits, pine, pineapple, cake, and caramel. Body is medium with mild carbonation. Ends with bitter hops, more citrus fruits, softer pineapple, and caramel. Nice!

Cask at Falling Rock: Frothy head; cloudy and orange-hued. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, naturally. Doughy malts. Sharp aromas: spices, perfumes, pepper, pine and citrus (tangerine and lemon). Dryish finish. Really tasted like it was aged in a white wine barrel. At first I found the beer kind of awkward, but it grew on me with a little time. Rerate, draft at brewery: Sweet and earthy, cookie-dough malts, with hints of cocoa and sugary caramel. Juicy citrus (orange, grapefruit). Healthy amount of pine and a nice level of bitterness to balance things out. Slight nip of alcohol gave it a little edge. Somewhat dry finish.

This was simply delicious. Has a kind of fruity, apple pie spice aroma, with some grapefruit as well. Flavor is tart at first and melts into this creamy malty mouthfeel, followed by some zesty bitterness, that always manages to stay smooth and delicious. This is a very well put together IPA
