Black with a brown edge and brown head. One of the best balanced aromas of bourbon and roasted malt. Nice chocolate and coffee undertones. Flavor of bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla and chocolate. Every thing was blended and balanced so well. Very smooth mouthfeel. Great stuff. chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Had on draft at GABF. Thick, sweet monster Imperial Stout that will probably be best after being put down for a few years. Excellent aroma and flavor, tho a bit too sweet. hopscotch (5510), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 10, 2006 Draft... GABF ’06... This beer rocks! Black ale with a small, creamy, light brown head with an orange tint. Bourbon, rich chocolate, vanilla and light coffee in both the flavor and nose. Sweet, but not overly so. Lightly burnt and bitter. Full-bodied with a silky, motor oil mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Finishes chocolatey, lightly sweet, mildly alcoholic and finally dry. World class beer! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2007 2005 vintage on tap at the brewpub on 10/12/07: Pours an oily nearly opaque with dark brown edges and a thin, wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet molten dark chocolate and molasses with some roasty coffee and mild bourbon oak. Body starts with a dense malty viscosity and earthy caramel and bittering hoppy presence toward a bitter molten dark chocolate and oaky bourbon finish. A nice barrel-aged imperial stout. ratman197 (3248), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2009 This was a 2005 vintage on tap at the Bull and Bush. It was black as night and had a serious whiskey/bourbon smell going on. The taste had more bourbon, thick, coats your mouth. This is pretty darn good and it must certainly be barrel-aged. It kinda reminds me of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout which is a good thing. If you like RIS or barrel-aged brews, try this one. Oh, and the bartender told me it was 12% ABV.
