| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 5, 2004 Draft at the brewery: Clear and deep, dark red. Great, lasting head and sticky lace. Smooth, soft and thick on the tongue with a mild carbonation. Chewy-sweet malt base (but not too sweet) with tasty notes of caramel and toffee. Rich, intense hops; wafty notes of grass and a little pine and flowers. A little citrus, too. Similar to some barleywines I’ve had. Very good beer. Feel lucky if you find it on tap when you visit ... I always seem to just miss it. Last time I went, it was tapped out soon after I ordered a pint. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2006 MMmmm, this was almost candy sweet! Lots of flavor, huge amounts of hops and a rich double sweet and tasty malt profile. Lots of rich citrus and grapefruit, and a lip numbing bit of fresh pine needles. Lots of pie crust maltiness, that just melts and matches perfectly with the hops. This is a huge beer to be that well balanced, but it is. This is one of the best of this style that I have ever tried. alaskanwarren (286), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 22, 2006 Pours dark red/brown with a creamy thick head. Lots of citrus and pine in the aroma, but also some spice as well. Taste was very malty and very rich in the hops, but not super evident that one hop prevailed, there was decent bitter, flavor and aroma. This was very balanced for being such a big beer. Also pretty smooth too! The alcohol didn’t come through big time (in flavor, anyway). The waitress said it was upwards of 12%. This also had a significant caramel malt character, in fact to the point that I’d almost want to start calling it a barleywine. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at the man-man. With as crazy hoppy as the Bull & Bush folks are, I was excited to see how fantastically malty this double ipa is. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

A nice, sweet Double IPA. Aroma of hops and flowers. Nice mouthfeel and finish. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2005 tap at falling rock tap house-plurs a dark orange hue with a smooth off-white head. i can smell this beer from 2 feet away-huge array of citric tones going on. the aroma even cut through the smoke in the bar! thats impressive! Big hop notes predominate with some good malt backing. Flavors go back and forth between IIPA and a hoppy Barleywine. Crazy flavors-citric/pine hops, caramel malt base and some good yeast action. im impressed! VERY well balanced. a true winner from Colorado! Braudog (3774), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Draft in a tulip at the brewpub, 9/11/06: Midnight red with an eruption of tan foam; not much of an aroma, surprisingly, because this is soup-thick with a warming richness, almost like an eisbock more than an IPA. Doesn’t hold a candle to Great Divide’s Titan, but this is good. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Strong hop presence in the palate. Very mature, balanced mouthfeel, but not quite malty enough. Great hoppy finish, long hop aftertaste. Fruity notes too, I swear it tastes and smells like huckleberries. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2005 Another Double IPA with a big, chewy malt presence that is closely bordering a barley wine. In fact, this is a much better barley wine than Double IPA. What a delicious beer though. Deep orange. An aroma of honeyed fruit, caramel and big resiny hops. Notes of honeyed fruit, caramel, big malt, bigs hops. Nice texture. A little lacking on the palate but still is still pretty tasty.
