arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 27, 2009 Picked up a growler of this at Bull and Bush because I realized I had never tasted it before. The color was the obvious black with a great foamy, coffee-colored head. The smell was malty with a bit of roastiness in there. The flavor was smooth roasty, good stout. I killed the growler all by myself so it was definitely very easy to drink.

Coffee roast aroma. Small beige head. Black very smooth on the palate and slightly fruity with some bitterness and dryness in a coffee roast finish. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Mar 9, 2009 On tap at the Bull & Bush brewpub. Pours a dark brown, almost black body with a thin, creamy, mocha colored head that leaves a thin lace. Aroma is light with some chocolate roasts, mild mexican coffee, molasses, and sweet fruity toffee. Flavor is similar, but with a bit of a vanilla hint. More of that initial lightly roasted chocolate malt before giving way to a sweet toffee and dark fruit middle and finishing with a mild coffee note that lingers for a short amount of time. Very light amount of straw hop creeps in there as this warms up. Palate is thin, very soft, and sticky. Overall, a bit off balance between flavors, but not bad. Almost seems like the flavor shows up, then halts and disappears before showing up again. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Feb 26, 2009 [Feb 18, 2009]
On tap. Pours a dark red with no head at all and low visible carbonation. The nose is sticky sweet with brown sugar, cola, brownies, and soy sauce. The palate is thick and flat. Yeah, this is sweet. Brown sugar, molasses, soy sauce, and something weird. This is a beer that towards the end of the pint gets really sticky in an unpleasant way. I stuck to Man Beer. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Dec 21, 2008 On tap at Bull and Bush poured a clear black with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, light fruittiness and a hint of vanilla. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate, light coffee and a hint of vanilla with a smooth lingering roasty finish. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA May 15, 2008 Draft. Looks like a stout, thin ring of bubbles. Muted nose, stout nose. Taste-chicory, good stout flavors, perfect CO2, dry twig, good solid stout flavors, straw. Well done. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 27, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 10/12/07: Transparent dark mahogany with a nicely-lacing tan head. Roasty malt and toasted caramel aroma with a touch of earthy hops. Body starts with a light caramel malty sweetness and decent bittering hoppy balance toward a nice dark chocolate roasty finish. A good stout. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 28, 2007 Draft. A pitch black beer with a red shine under a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt - leaving a slight acidity. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of roasted malt, but also with hints of acidity. I find it boring.
