acrdz (4362), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 24, 2006 Draught at the brewery. Dark red toast colored body, really nice looking in a pint glass, but the head is still and not very well formed. Has some hoppy, chewy, course malts and yeast in the nose, with some smoky charred plums and fresh cut cedar (hops) notes. This was supposedly highly hopped, on par with the Edgar IPA I was told, but I disagree - the courseness is distracting and not really necessary, and the bitterness seems artificial and out of place with the grain bill used for this beer. After a few big gulps I’m pretty sick of drinking this beer. The cedar and plum hop aromas are quite nice, but drinking this beer is another experience, and one I’m not into. obxdude10 (1390), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 22, 2006 Deep amber in color, small off-white head with only slight lacing around the glass, aroma full of caramel malt & a touch of pine, full-bodied, smooth & drinkable, flavors were of caramel, sweet & rich malt, nicely balanced with a good hop character in the body as well, very rich finish with more malt in the aftertaste, a very nice session beer
