| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2009 750 ml cork and caged bottle purchased at Capones several months ago shared at the UFC 100 gathering. Poured with a giant frothy mostly white head sitting atop a hazy nectar orange colored body. Aroma was sweet and floral with some additional notes of toast and citrusy lime. Medium bodied that I found to be only slightly dry on the finish with light carbonation. Flavor had an odd waxiness about it with additional notes of grass, honey, flower petals and toast. Interesting and nice but traditional saisons are still not my style. GAManiac (1196), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2009 750mL cork and caged bottle courtesy of a generous BA poured into a tulip.
Pours a bright, hazy golden orange with a little bit of sediment floating around. The head is massive and leaves thick lacing along the sides.
The aroma is dry and grassy, with more than a hint of sweetness from the honey. There is plenty of light fruit, especially pears and apples and some subdued peppery spices. There is a faint hint of funk, but it’s barely there.
The taste has an initial lemony tartness that I was not expecting given the aroma. The sweetness from the underlying yeast forms a backbone along with honey-dipped pears. The finish is very, very dry and crisp, bringing back the grassy character that was so dominant in the nose.
As mentioned before, very dry mouthfeel with lively carbonation and a tad sweeter than most saisons, likely the honey coming through.
This is definitely a very good saison and the honey adds a bit of complexity and balance to the underlying dryness of the saison. Well crafted beer. Glouglouburp (2877), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 30, 2009 In short: A straightforward wild countryside blonde Saison. Very dry and to the point. An acquired taste that I have acquired.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed fresh soon after the beer release. Bottle sent my way by JAXSON, thanks A LOT Jeremy.
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose is wild wild wild. Not bretty, not barnyard, just plain wild countryside field with a little phenolic twist. You can smell the dryness of this beer. Taste like the nose is just dry wilderness. The neutral malt backbone tastes like semi-dry hay/white bread with just a little honey. Some dry banana peels. Hops have a dry flowers taste, a bit perfumy but very dry. Overall the beer is quite dry. Carbonation is very lively and the mouthfeel is “fun”. Really really good. Probably the best bottled beer I’ve had from this brewery. It’s the Bullfrog Bestthing. JCB (1796), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2009 750ml from the generous corby112 - thanks, Craig! Decided to make this my Fifteen hundy. Handsome pale orange pour, almost golden like a tripel or biere de garde. Lively carbonation and pretty nice retention. Lots of brett and pepper in the nose, very nice and appealing. The body is lively and the honey is pleasantly understated in the flavor, allowing some the sharper flavors to come through and make this an appealing variation on a glorious style. Tart finish, this was a good one. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

The nose is yeasty, sweet, earthy, nice honey character, very floral. Flavor is mildly tart, yeast comes through nicely, honey shows a mild earthy sweetness.
