Pours a slightly purple tinted body with a fizzy purple tinged head that fell to a thin ring. The nose has lots of juicy berries, oak, and some funky sour and farmhouse notes. The flavor is very tart and dry with lots of berries, dry oak, and funky but not overbearing wild yeast byproducts. There’s a really nice oaky flavor on the finish that actually makes me surprised that this was aged in a bourbon barrel as opposed to a raw oak barrel. There’s really no bourbon flavor at all, which is fine by me. The mouthfeel is nice and tart, drying on the back end, with nice slightly fizzy pinpoint carbonation. Overall, quite good, and I think that there is some potential for this guy to get even better with age so that the funk comes out even more. Beerlando (2325), Orlando, Florida, USA

This rarity shows a beautiful profile of hazy, ruby-red liquid topped with a frothy, light pink head. Scant arches of ribbony lace mark the glass. The nose puts sweet and sour blueberries and blackberries on full display. Fruity, jammy notes are comforting up front, providing nice contrast to the tart, ascorbic funk and farmhouse wood that is to follow. In the flavor, raspberries join the party, lending their unique tartness to the sweeter blue and black varieties. Sour and oaky, with a vanilla undertone, the funky yeast clearly makes its presence known. Medium bodied and slightly prickly on the tongue, some underlying sweetness emerges on the finish to calm the acidity and the lively carbonation. Somewhat of a lambic/sour/wild hybrid, this is a really unique and enjoyable brew. nuplastikk (1191), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Nice foamy head. Big sour tastes, lots of wild yeast action, almost overpowering the berry flavors. Some alcohol in the aroma. Awesome, unique, and memorable. Relatively clean, mostly citric acid aroma with a touch of vinegar and berry. Lots of sour unripe blackberry flavor with bit of buttery wood in the finish that dries out well. Medium bodied. Reminds me of eating red himalaya berries in the Santa Cruz Mountains when I was young. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Courtesy of Captain Cougar. Hazy red body with a medium sized pink head. The nose is horseblaket, cherry, oak and cotton candy. Just a tiny bit of adhesive in the nose detracts a bit. The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately tart with lots of cherry, some hay, cheese and berry. Medium body is soft with moderate, but very gentle carbonation. Good stuff. I really enjoyed this one. Raspberry color with a pink head. Light and smooth berries and sour funk round off a solid smell. Taste is more of cherries than black or blueberries as the label would suggest. Overall, a good sour. Rciesla (3621), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
