JAXSON (229), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 8, 2009 750ml bottle thanks to Terry. This one is a few years old at this point. Big aroma of carmelized pears, apples, brown sugar, and bourbon. Some oxidation on the nose, which always scares me. The pour is a clear honey gold with a nice soapy head. Great retention. Assertive bourbon presence in the mouth, especially at the beginning and in the long burn on the back end. Not cloyingly sweet like I feared, but powerful and bold. There is a very pleasant stone fruit tone in there, but it’s wiped out a it by the bourbon. This is a sipper. Nicely done, though a little heavy and hot from the bourbon. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Jul 27, 2007 750mL bottle, BCTC 2007. Pours a hazy, dark grapefruit color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Light bourbon and buttery creaminess in the aroma. Full, chewy mouthfeel: dense, viscous sour-mash bourbon character; buttery and peppery notes, with a yeasty / alcoholic warmth coming through. Lengthy, bourbon and brown sugar / estery finish.
