| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 1, 2005 Yellow-brown, enormous head, receding fast; barnsteen-red beer, the yeast again nearly totally clinging to the bottom, making it un-clear at worst, well carbonated. Roasted malts, dark brown bread aroma’s, earthy & leafy aroma’s, even meaty, as chestnuts fallen on the autumn muddy ground. Earthy flavours, with a serious dash of hops, caramel and again brown bread. Liquorice flavour too, but without a trace of sweetness; chicory-like bitterness all the more. Wry & dry MF, nearly adstringent, medium bodied at best. I like this Dunkel better than their Helles, which means: thanks to joss for letting me be the third to rate this. ! dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2005 Bottled. Clear copper colour. I don´t know how this should be "naturtrüb"? Big, fluffy, off-white head. Malty, slightly chocolatey and caramelly nose with hops shining through. Toasted malt, chocolate and a faint hint of coffee in the taste. A little bitter in the finish. Not as good as their Alt-Dunkel, but a really nice one. Thanks to joss for letting me be the second to rate this. Oakes (8115), Kowloon, Hong Kong

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Bottled. A lightly hazy red beer with a big but fast disappearing white head. The aroma is malty with caramel notes. the flavour has again notes of caramel, malt and a light toastness. Some hops in an aftertaste that has a light bitterness. Nearly as good as their helles, that means that is a very drinkable beer. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2005 Bottle. Not as good as the hell, but still quite nice. Touches of caramel and brown sugar, with a nice lightly bitter herbaceous, grassy hop finish. Not too bad at all. joss (3685), Garching b. München, Germany

Chestnut colour (not particulary cloudy), creamy brown head - lacing nicely but dissipating fast.
Roast and chocolate aroma.
Nutty and chocolate tastenotes. Slightly fizzly mouthfeel. Relatively light body, light metallic finish. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland

Cloudy, orange-amber colour with a short frothy off-white head. Sweet, toasty malt aroma with ester-fruity notes, shades of caramel and spicy, nettle-like hop-elements. Toast-malty, yeast-fruity taste, caramel, almost fizzy on the palate, light to medium bodied; medium-dry, malty, slightly bitter finish. Quite palatable.
