Appearance is a murky yellow/orange with excellent head and lacing. A full bodied lager with hops and fruit in the flavor. Creamy texture and a pleasure to drink. This was a bargin at under $3 a 24oz and it shall work well to wash the horrible taste out of my mouth caused by the last nasty beer I sampled. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2003 Cloudy golden, orange hay below a magnificent rocky head that grows right out of the glass before it settles into a very nice plateau. After a partial eternity the head dies into a thin murkey brown collection of bubbles. Large aromatic-hop aroma with fresh hay and sticky malt. Slightly sour flavours, but paired with a nice bit of fruit and candy (bubble gum). . . good lingering piney hops, solid. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2003 This is a lager done right. The aroma is full of flowery noble hops with the promise of malt to come. The flavor is seriously malty in the way that I like pale beers to be. The flavor is a little doughy. Not really very bitter though. I wasn't expecting the body to be hazy but the dark golden body is hazy. The head is lively and large, Burgerbrau must like carbonation. Very good Helles. Aroma of caramel malt and hops maybe Saaz. Nice balance between hops and malt, with ample amounts of both. Sweet flavor. Finish is slightly dry from the hops. Really Delicious Beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2003 Poured a deep clouded amber. Smaller head than the Roggenbier. Nose is malted bliss. Thick aroma. The taste is a pretty crisp, with malt and a grassy/earthy hint. Finishes very smooth. Pretty refreshing beer, overall. Recommended! Drew (2409), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2003 I was surprised that this had a thick palate, yet at the same time tasted so delicate. The flavors were full of bready malts and a proper helping of hops, but it felt very soft and creamy. This was just really good. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 15, 2003 Copper, with a big white head that lasts a while. Very much like that publicity picture on the left there. Hoppy nose, like a dry pine forest with hints of fresh cut grass and a touch of biscuity malt. Lightly sweet flavor, with some hop notes. Kind of musty though, and thin of palate.
