Aroma is bready, yeasty, slightly sweetish. No lacing. Mouthfeel smooth, kind of thinnish. Tastes lightly malty, very slightly smoky. Really nothing remarkable though. A let-down, based on the very high rating here (RB) and my love for this style.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 30, 2005 bottle-i was very dissapointed in this beer. maybe my bottle was very old. Poured cloudy orante with lots of yeast chunks with a spritzy white head. lightly sour, grainy, lightly spicy aroma with lots of german funky notes. sour flavors-way too sour with some toasted grains for good measure. body is somewhat watery, but not detracting considering the OG of this beer. I had very high hopes for this one. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 27, 2005 Dry, lightly dusty, wheaty aroma. Flavor is not of Saaz--but still something hay-like. I began to suspect Hallertau and then I saw something on the neck label in German that may have suggested it was Hallertau. If so I’m very pleased at being able to distinguish those two in German beers (giving self pat on the back). Extremely fizzy. Dark, rich yellow with white foam. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 30, 2005 Bottle. Pale hazy yellow with some floaties, and a gargantuan white head that defies easy pouring, leaving some nice lacing. A pretty flower sitting in vase of swampy water. Aroma is wheaty, biscuity grains and malt with a mild sourness underlying. Flavour is light with biscuity malt upfront, some fruityness leading to a mild but pervasive tang I attributed along with the big head to a mild infection, but other raters have commented on it as well in more favorable terms so I am not sure what to make of it. Average, effervescent palate. Not unpleasant really, bit odd, lacklustre. Thanks for the trade Probiere. twindadplus2 (417), Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is candied fruits and bready malt. Flavor is malty, honeyish sweet with an herbal bitterness. Full mouthfeel with minimal carbonation. This is good, very smooth and satisfying. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 1, 2005 Jax Package Store, Sandy Springs, Ga,. - 1 pt .9 fl oz bottle. Pours a urine specimen-like cloudy light orange with a fairly frothy white, bubbly head. Aroma is all yeast and corn. Flavor is yeasty with some corn-like qualities - reminds me of a South American lager. Faint traces of honey and biscuity sweetness, but not enough to redeem it. Mouthfeel is decently thick, about the only thing going for this one. Hard to believe this is the highest rated Helles on here. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2005 Bottle. Very nice, and something i could drink all night. Nice bready malt character, but the real satr was the grassy, slightly herbaceous bitterness, nicely dry finish, very nice indeed. Magicdave6 (5554), London, Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2005 No#38. This sat on the table for ages so i thought i better open it and i wasnt let down. Aroma is hoppy with soem floural tones in there that remind me of orval. Taste is same, very light with good carbonation and a dry finish. Very refreshing.
